New thoughts, new insights.

I changed my opinion towards religion. I am still atheist, but deep within I finally understand the meaning of religion, something I never knew before. I mean, how can you believe in something that isn't there? How can you waste your life doing things for something that doesn't even exist? It was a mystery to me, but not anymore.

Why would you endorse a God when its existence is questionable? Because it can free you of any negative thoughts. Why would you believe that there is something like faith? Because it will help you to accept the things the way they are. Result, no more pain.

You might be wondering how the f*ck can believing in something that has no scientific proof at all can be right. Well, first of all, you should ask yourself the following two questions: Do I live a life without pain and negative thoughts, and do I want to live a life without pain and negativity. Most people will answer 'no' to the first question. The answer to the second question could vary, since there will be people how believe that without negative thoughts, or 'downers', there can't be positive thoughts, 'uppers'. Those who believe that can hold on to negative thoughts. But what if I told you that there can be positive thoughts only? And not like the uppers I mentioned earlier, but something deeper, stronger, and everlasting? Like eternal peace with yourself.

Religion is a way to achieve such a state. You can reject the idea of a God (and with todays portrait of God it is totally reasonable), but some will live way more happier that way. And in the end, there is no denying. You only live for yourself. The only happiness that matters is your own. You don't care about the happiness of others, other than that they make you happy. If happy people would make you sad, would you be happy for them, or would you start ignoring them, hating them? The point I want to make is, you can't feel others emotions, only your own.

The link to religion is that believing might bring you in a state of total acceptance towards life itself. You will not worry of what the future might bring, nor will you feel bad of mistakes made in the past, you just accept what is, what was, and what will be. Some people don't need a God to achieve this state, called 'enlightenment', some will. No difference at all.

If believing in a God will get rid of all your pain, you would be insane not to believe in it. Don't you agree?

Erik
