Mood-changing Power

Really long time, and no posts.

Last weeks I experienced the mood-changing power of music unlike any time before. It caught be by surprise, motivated me, gave me energy, depressed me. Never before I felt sad and hopeless when listening to sad tunes. This really sucks, cause "sad" music is the music I like the most. But continue to listen to it really made me feel miserable, so I stopped and turned on the Pirates soundtrack. Now, I feel like I have a huge energy boost everytime I turn on my mp3.

This sudden change of what music means to me also motivated me. I spend almost every spare minute playing piano, panflute, or just listening to music. Maybe music dominates my life a bit too much these days, but I feel cool with it, and that is the most important thing. Feeling comfortable. At least for me.

I really start to enjoy good music, and accept bad music. I used to mock about every shitty song I heard, but mocking isn't going to alter your mood for the good, so I'd decided not to have so much criticism any more. Well, I try :).

Something completely different now. Great things are coming, like the Discover Your Talents project. I won't talk about those things now, but I might in the future.

And, last but least, I finally found some discipline and confidence, so there just might be new music on this site the next time you're here.

Cheers!

I wish I had the talent to put the sounds in my head out into the air like you folks do.

Music in my opinion is audible emotions. It's not all that bad a thing to be sad when you hear a sad song. I personally like the emotional influence music can have on me, especially "sad" music.

Why is it that when you watch a movie & something sad happens, you feel sad but it feels good... to feel sad?

Same thing with music. A lot of what I listen to has the same emotional effect, but I (we) continue to listen to it.

Maybe this would be good for it's own topic sometime.

I look forward to finding some tunes here soon. :)

Thanks for your comment Sam!

Music indeed it audible emotion, and feeling sad when listening to sad music is a normal reaction. However, lately, I didn't feel sad, I felt depressed, more than sad, hopeless.

Some music made me feel so miserable that listening to it resulted in "yet another depressing day", not just the "happy sad" feeling you mentioned (which I used to have when listening to such music).

Before I forget, some people have the talent to write down the melodies inside of their head, some people have the talent to hear music inside their head, and some have none (like me). However, if you know what music you like, you can make it. The techniques can be learned, the notes can be put together as if they where a puzzle, and eventually you will end up with something you like.
However, the time it takes before you end up with something that you like, is variable. But I do think that a lifetime if by far enough time for anyone to create their magnum opus.

Just try, keep on trying, and you will succeed.

Let me take you on a flight to hidden worlds, let me introduce you to the deeper meanings of music, and allow me to help you find things you never thought existed before. Let me try that.
